Effect of Phosphorus, Iron, Zinc, and Their Combined Deficiencies on Photosynthetic Characteristics of Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Seedlings

Combined elemental deficiencies are more complex and insidious physiological metabolic responses than single stresses. To determine the effects of phosphorus (P), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), their deficient combinations on photosynthetic characteristics rice seedlings, we investigated dry weight, chlorophyll (Chl) content, rapid carbon assimilation CO2 responses, Chl fluorescence in four-week-old (CB9 BJ1 cultivars) seedlings. The results showed that matter, maximum carboxylation efficiency (Vc,max), electron transfer (Jmax) seedlings were all reduced to different degrees under element deficiency treatments. JIP-test analysis decrease concentration active PSII reaction centers (RC/ABS) -Zn treatment was main reason for inhibition performance index PIABS. -P RC/ABS inhibited (ψEo). Primary photochemical reactions (φPo) -P-Zn treated also compared treatment. -Fe -Fe-Zn treatments photosynthesis most severely, which not only but severely φPo ψEo. Notably, -P-Fe -P-Fe-Zn CB9 improved RC/ABS, alleviating limitation Fe deficiency.
